Admission
Undergraduate: Official admission to the
University is not required for Summer Session students taking undergraduate-level
courses (001-499). However, a nonrefundable application fee of $60 is
assessed if you wish to enroll in undergraduate or graduate credit courses.
This fee applies to ALL students, including independent learning, nondegree,
returning and graduate students who:
- have never attended the
University; or
- have attended but not paid the fee; or
- have paid the fee but not
attended.
High school students may be admitted
and may enroll, subject to the approval of the appropriate university officials.
Students below the high school level seeking to be admitted and enrolled will
be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Graduate: Official graduate-level admission
is required prior to registration in any graduate course (500-799). Those
who are not University of Nevada, Reno graduates or have not previously
been admitted to graduate study at the University must complete the Application
for Summer Session 2010 Registration, pay the $60 application fee in
addition to registration fees, and certify prior completion of a bachelor's
degree from an accredited institution to be considered as a Graduate
Special student.
General: Applications for admission are
available upon request in the Office of Admissions and Records, Fitzgerald
Student Services Building, (775) 784-4700. Summer Session students are subject
to university regulations as printed in the University’s General
Catalog, available at: www.ss.unr.edu/records/catalog.asp.
Summer Session Fees
- $154.00 per undergraduate credit
- $230.75 per graduate credit
The consolidated fees for Summer Session classes are $154.00 per credit
(undergraduate) and $230.75 per credit (graduate). These fees apply to
undergraduate and graduate credits including audit. The consolidated
fee includes student union, the $4 per-credit technology fee, and activity
benefits. Certain field study, lab, music, art and physical education
courses have additional special course fees to cover the costs of materials,
transportation, or special instruction. Fee bills will not be sent.
Late Fee/No-Show Fee/Reinstatement Fee
A late fee of $25 per day to a maximum of $50 will be charged for payment of registrations occurring on or after the first day of instruction for each term.
A $75 no-show fee will be assessed and placed against your account if payment for ePAWS registration or class additions is not received by the Cashier’s Office by the published due date. Your enrollment will also be cancelled. It is important to check your ePAWS account to verify you are only registered in the courses you plan to attend. Please refer to the Summer Session calendar.
If you are purged from classes for nonpayment but wish to continue in a course, a reinstatement request must be obtained from Admissions and Records. A fee of $100 or 50 percent of actual course fees, whichever is less, is assessed for reinstatements of registrations cancelled for non-payment as verified by the Cashier’s Office. To avoid additional fees, pay all registration fees and drop courses by published deadlines. Always print add/drop confirmation pages and keep for your records!
Fee Bills WILL NOT BE SENT!
It is your responsibility to pay fees by the appropriate dates for classes in which you are registered. See the calendar for payment dates and deadlines.
Credit Card Fee Payment Available
Students may pay registration and room and/or board fees using ePAWS, or in person at the Cashier’s Office with a credit card (MasterCard, VISA, Discover or American Express). You may use your credit card to pay at the same time you register. It is your responsibility to verify your credit card payment. Payments can be verified the next business day after 9 a.m.
Mail-in Payments
You can mail your payment checks to Cashier’s Office/0124, University of Nevada, Reno, NV 89557.
Drop Boxes
You can also drop your payment check in a fee payment box in the Fitzgerald Student Services Building.
Refunds
A full refund of registration fees may be granted to students who officially drop courses or withdraw from the University on or before the second day of instruction for each Summer Session term or course. After that date, a 50 percent refund of registration fees may be authorized to students officially dropping courses or withdrawing from the University during the first 20 percent of each Summer Session term or intensive course. No refund will be made thereafter. (Classes dropped after the second day of instruction appear on your transcript with a grade of “W.”) No request to remove a “W” will be granted.
For special classes such as the study abroad programs, a minimum of $10 will be assessed for those officially withdrawing or dropping a course.

Continuing NSHE Millennium Scholarship recipients who were eligible at the end of Spring may receive a reimbursement for summer coursework up to a maximum of 12 credits. NSHE transfer students must be admitted to the University to be considered for funding. Registration and related fees must be paid by the student according to the dates in the Summer Session schedule.
Upon completion of Summer Session coursework, the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships will identify those students who are eligible for reimbursement. Incoming Fall 2010 freshman Millennium Scholars may also be eligible.
